Maison Esmeralda Chambre D’Hote and Gite is situated in the glorious Massat Valley, which is truly in the Pyrenees. Our surroundings are breathtaking and even the access to us, either from the direction of St Girons, or Foix, provides a wonderful scenic tour. The Pyrenees rise dramatically around us, providing an un-rivalled setting on the banks of the River Arac. The wildlife and flowers are all around due to this unspoilt area, which is due to become a National Park. Each season has its charm…spring brings the wild flowers and sunny days; summer is glorious and lively; autumn colours are wonderful and the days still warm; winter, with its crisp clear days. brings the skiing and the glorious snowy mountains to admire or play in. There are numerous well marked walks or cycle rides (bike hire can be arranged) just a step out of our door. No need to take the car…fishing, horse riding, climbing are just a few of the other immediate activities. The lively village of Massat is just 5 minutes away, with shops, bars, restaurants, etc. During summer there are many local fetes, events etc and the wonderful town of St Girons (20 mins) offers music festivals, craft fairs etc, Kayaking, donkey treks and many other activities are a short drive away (15 mins) and places of interest….. caves, huge markets, wonderful old towns and mountain villages are around 20 minutes. For the lovers of skiing, Guzet Neige Ski Station is 20 minutes from us and cross-country skiing is even closer Further afield we have Toulouse, Carcassone, Andorra or simply a daytrip into Spain Our Maison de Maitre is set in pretty gardens leading to our riverfront where you can paddle, fish or just enjoy this glorious river. Bed and breakfast in lovely, large bedrooms with wonderfully comfortable beds. All bedrooms have private bathrooms. Two bedrooms have double beds and the third has a double bed and a single. For children further beds can be made available. A comfortable lounge with television, DVDs is available for your use Breakfast consists of homemade preserves, delicious bread, cake, fruit, coffee etc. Table D’Hote is also available and good home cooking from local produce is assured. Both are taken in our elegant dining room or on the shaded terrace. Prices are form 49 euros/couple, breakfast included and 20 euros for a 4 course evening meal with wine and coffee.
